Welcome
Join us as we explore
how God is restoring all things in this day, including the
Aaronic priesthood. The atoning death of our Messiah
inaugurated exciting changes in our approach to God. While
all things will be restored, Yeshua's (Jesus') sacrifice
will alter their previous form and pattern. The Aaronic
Priesthood will be restored but, like everything else, it
will be in the context of Yeshua's death and resurrection.
Levi
and Aaron in Israel
The House of Aaron is
the Biblical name of the family of Israelite priests
ordained by God to serve Him at the Tabernacle in the
wilderness and, later, at the temple in Jerusalem. Aaronites
were a family within the tribe of Levi. This entire tribe
was called by God to minister to him and then to the people.
The specific duties of the Levites were to assist Aaron in
the work of the Tabernacle, in teaching, ministering in
music and judging all the tribes of Israel. God made clear
that Levi was to have no inheritance in the land but Him.
(Deuteronomy 18:1-2) Thus, no territory was identified as
Levi and Aaron's home. Instead, 48 Levitical cities were
scattered about the land, some in each tribe to remind Levi
that his ministry extended to all the tribes of Israel.
Aaron’s
Priesthood Role
Many have taught that
the ministry of Aaron and Levi has been replaced. Some even
say it has passed away. The Hebrew word "olam" is often
translated "forever." This is the word we stand on when we
say "The grass withers and the flower fades, but the Word of
our God stands forever." (Isaiah 40:8) "Olam" is applied to
the priesthood of Levi and Aaron numerous times in
scripture. In fact, the concept of perpetual or forever is
applied to the role of Levi and Aaron more times in
scripture than anything else -- except the covenant God has
made between Israel and the land he chose for them.
Hebrews 7: 12 (NIV)
states: "For when there is a change of the priesthood, there
must also be a change of the law." We recognize that a
change has been made in the priesthood and the Torah. God is
no longer looking for sacrifices of flesh because the
perfect sacrifice has been made.
The priesthood of Aaron
and Levi today is wholly centered on the person and work of
Yeshua the Messiah. Our sacrifices of praise and
consecration will be unto Him and for Him. Although many
have an image of priesthood that is confining and
restrictive, the priest in Israel never wedged himself
between the worshipper and God. He stood, as a priest and
teacher, to assist and serve the supplicant. His first call
was to minister to God but then to also minister to the
people. The houses of Aaron and Levi when fully restored
will only exist to bless, serve, and teach the other tribes.
Their leadership will not be "lording it" over the other
tribes but a vehicle to be the servant of all.
Instead of the high
priest going into the Most Holy Place once a year, every
believer is now called to enter boldly through the blood of
Yeshua. In this day, the critical teaching role of Aaron is
to point to the sinless way of the Lord. Come with us as we
embark on the greatest task of history since the
resurrection -- the restoration of all things.
